My husband and I began watching a show on PBS called "America's Test Kitchen" at the beginning of this summer. We really liked it and (for me at least) it took some of the mystery out of cooking. They make 2 recipes a week and show you each step and give you tips on how to make it come out best - they made everything seem really easy. So, Tom and I tried it. And the recipes turned out delicious. So we kept trying. About 3 weeks ago we decided to forego our weekly dinner out and just eat at home instead because we were actually enjoying our homemade meals MORE than we did restaurant meals. This from a family that ate dinner in restaurants at LEAST 4 times a week since we got married 11 years ago. We were surprised ourselves.
We've now successfully conquered:
- Pork chops with country gravy
- Pork tenderloin studded with rosemary & garlic
- Spicy southern bbq chicken
- Parmesan crusted chicken cutlets
- "BBQ" meatloaf
- Cheesy chicken enchiladas
- Sweet mustard chicken
- Baked chicken tortillas
- Chipotle-potato shepherd's pie
- Rustic italian tortellini soup
- Turkey & stuffing meatballs
- Quick Spaghetti sauce
- Homemade BBQ sauce
Just to name a few. Suddenly cooking has become fun and something I look forward to doing. I started this blog to share my adventures. I hope you enjoy them and much as I am.
